This conference aims to reunite experts focusing on two distinct aspects of phylogenomics: the use of genome data inferring species phylogeny and the use of phylogenetic approaches to gain insights into gene functions. This conference will create synergy between these two phylogenomic communities, bridging the gap between there respective scientific endeavours. A special issue of BMC Evolutionary Biology will be dedicated to the conference, allowing contributors of the conference to submit their manuscripts.
