Being an Open Access journal means that the papers published are freely available to everyone via the Internet. Authors retain copyright of their work. The publishers, Libertas Academica, do not charge readers any form of subscription, instead asking authors of accepted papers to make an article-processing payment. A number of fee waivers are available and are intended to facilitate publication by individuals irrespective of their individual or institutional means. Institutions can also support Evolutionary Bioinformatics Online and the other Libertas Academica Open Access journals by becoming a member institution. An unlimited number of authors from member institutions can publish papers without paying the article-processing fee. Details are available at the Libertas Academica website.
